Melancholy tearfully pondered her Grievous state, pensively sunk in her sorrow.
Melancholy's bodice is accented in rich purple lace with tiny brilliantly faceted garnets trimming her neckline. She wears a wide, ornate buckle at her waist, accented by two tiny garnets. She wears a deep purple lace overlay on her full skirt. Her sleeves are puffed, and she wears a wee crochet and tulle head piece. The purple lace represents half-mourning, traditionally observed for the 6 months beyond the First Year of Full Mourning. I chose to put her in Half Mourning as a reminder that there is no time line for Grief. She comes with a wee handmade, hand embroidered linen hankie of my choice.
Melancholy was made in my smoke free, one cat household. She is made of cotton muslin and fiberfill. I made her and her clothing using a combination of machine and hand stitching. Her hair is purple wool. Her elbows and knees bend. She stands 23" tall.
