Faeries fascinate us for their ability to be seen as benign, innocent and kind, but also as dangerous, ruthless, and wild. I've combined these attributes in the creation of this series of Fae dolls.
Meet Wisteria
How daintily she bows her head,
how sweet her perfumed air;
Her twining roots are hid beneath,
from the blissfully unaware.
Her softness lures a curious hand,
Her fragrance draws you in;
She invites a kiss, with her velvet lips,
whose poison waits within.
Wisteria's dress is a pale lilac colored satin. Her sleaveless bodice is fitted and covered in hand sewn appliquéd flowers in blue/silver/pink tones which have grow over her shoulders and chest. Her skirt is full and is mid calf length. It features an overlay of tulle with floral accents that fall delicately from it's edge. She has appliquéd accents on her right arm and left leg. Her wings are satin and tulle with the same flowers as the rest of her dress. Her hair is black, with the accent of a purple braid on the left side of her head.
Wisteria was made in my home studio. I use hand dyed cotton muslin for her body, which was made with a combination of machine and hand stitching. I then hand stuffed and assembled her using a needle and thread.
