Pining was ever occupied and distracted by herself. She held her longing and polished it until it became as smooth as a river stone.
Pining was made with a recess in her chest, which holds a vintage heart locket. It is surrounded by cream colored antique lace. Her cuffs and waistline are trimmed in the same lace. The cream lace signifies half-mourning, traditionally observed for the 6 months beyond the First Year of Full Mourning. I chose to put her in Half Mourning as a reminder that there is no time line for Grief. She wears a chatelaine of three lockets. Her shawl is antique trim from a bodice, and she wears a small ruffled embellishment in her hair. She comes with a wee handmade, hand embroidered linen hankie of my choice.
Pining was made in my smoke free, one cat household. She is made of cotton muslin and fiberfill. I made her and her clothing using a combination of machine and hand stitching. Her hair is wool. Her elbows, knees and wrists bend. She stands 23" tall.
