Amelie comes to you shrouded in muslin. Upon which I have hand written the story of who she was in life.
A little representation of our mortality, Amelie can serve as a reminder of how we want to live our brief and beautiful lives, and as a way to accept and embrace who we are, here and now.
Amelie was made in my smoke free home studio. I used cotton muslin for her body and her shroud. Her body is made with a combination of machine and hand stitching. I hand stuff and hand assembled her using a needle and thread. She is 17" long.
'Amelie found her delight in simple things. She sang while she walked. She secretly loved getting caught in the rain. She never said no to s baked good and could never eat a chicken she had named. So she named them all. Amelie was afraid of dogs, but still greeted one when she met it. Cats were her favorite because of their purr and the way they smelled like dust and cinnamon. She was afraid of disappointing people, so she kept mostly to herself, but the people she did let involved her dearly. Amelie welcomed her death, having loved her life.'
